Hi I'm Ana, but before I tell you about myself I wanted to tell you a little bit about Wonderland Wolf.

Wonderland Wolf is...

The dream clothing brand of a girl that didn’t quite fit in during high school, and would rather hang with the guys. Lived in oversized band tees and uncomfortable jeans in her early days — nothing ever fit quite right.

 

Dressing rooms always made her anxious.

 

Once a tomboy, now a stylish fashion lover, she’s all about florals, breathable fabrics, and posting unapologetic daily mirror selfies of her latest fits.

 

She’s tired of size charts that don’t make sense for her apple shaped body — wishes fashion would catch up with more representation body type and stop throwing her into plus sizes just because of her waist measurement.

 

Maybe someday. Until then, she’s making her own rules.

 

And her own style.

 

Similarly to the girl in my story, I also wish that the fashion industry would catch up. As an apple shaped woman myself, I aim to create every piece from this brand designed for the specific needs of apple shaped bodies (wondering if there is a better name to describe this body shape though, are we really still using fruits to compare to women's bodies? lol!)

 

Even though brands are more size inclusive than ever before and I applaud them for that, I feel there is a need for better fit and representation for this particular body type. More than just another

clothing brand — I want to build a community for people with this body type to be heard and seen. 

 

For a bit of background, I've been in this industry for over 15 (!!!) years and know mostly all about the ins and outs of the apparel development and manufacturing process. Though I studied Fine Art at UC Santa Cruz in sunny California, I found my passion in patternmaking shortly after while taking fashion courses at various community colleges in the LA area.

 

Currently, I am a self-employed patternmaker and technical designer. My freelance patternmaking business, Stitches + Sketches Patternmaking ®, began in 2019 and has been running strong ever since. In that business, I work mainly with childrenswear brands, but I have always had huge interest in diving more into womenswear which is how the idea for Wonderland Wolf was born.

 

And now that I have the patternmaking business somewhat-ish established (haha!), I feel it's finally time to start my own apparel brand, which was always the ultimate dream goal.

 

Oh, and whenever I'm not on work mode, I enjoy going to concerts

(alt and indie rock) or movies with my boyfriend Daniel, sewing, crocheting, or any type of creative activity, dyeing my hair fun colors, and kissing my 3 adorable cats on their soft little heads.
